Councillor Neil Furey joins the Our West Lancashire Group of Councillors on West Lancashire Borough Council
Independent councillor for Old Skelmersdale, Neil Furey has today joined the Our West Lancashire group on West Lancashire Borough Council swelling the group’s numbers to six.

Councillor Furey has been a Borough Councillor since 2008 and has served as Mayor and Committee chairman in the past. He took the principled decision to resign from Labour over the plans to close both council swimming pools with no plans in place for their replacement.
Speaking about his decision, Councillor Furey said, “Since resigning the Labour whip and going Independent the members of the OWL group have all been very kind to me. I can achieve more as part of a team and I’m looking forward to the contribution I can make for the residents of my ward and West Lancashire within the Our West Lancashire group.”
OWL Chairman, Councillor Adrian Owens said, “I and my OWL colleagues warmly welcome Neil to the Our West Lancashire group. Neil brings his passion and experience and most importantly believes that residents must be truly heard and respected even when difficult decisions are required. OWL was founded as an antidote to Labour and Conservative parties; their squabbling; and tribal attitudes and people are increasingly responding to our approach as the election of two county councillors earlier this month shows.”
