New Banking Hub must be Town Centre based

Our West Lancashire have today written to Cash Access UK. This is the not-for-profit company funded by the major banks that operates Banking Hubs. OWL have made it clear that the planned banking hub for Ormskirk must be located in the town centre.

Yesterday’s news that Santander will close at the latest by next January, subject to a new banking hub opening was another blow to banking customers in Ormskirk after a long line of bank closures, but the new banking hub offers some positivity at last.

Councillor Adrian Owens, OWL Chairman said, “Banking hubs offer a wide range of banking services from all the major banks. News that Ormskirk will get a banking hub means that customers of NatWest; Barclays; Halifax; RBS and Lloyds should get a more accessible and better service than they have done since those branches closed in the town.”

“I have today written to Cash Access UK making clear that the new Banking Hub that they are tasked with now opening must be located in the town centre, not at some other location. The ground floor of the former Barclays Bank might be a good location but in any event it needs to be located where there is level access and centrally to support the wider town centre.”
