Petition to Ashley Dalton MP asking her to hold a public meeting over possible closure of children’s A&E at Ormskirk

children's a&e to be axed?

It’s clear from the public reaction that there are great concerns about the possible axing of Children’s A&E from Ormskirk. Our MP must represent us.

So, please add your name to this petition calling on our MP, Ashley Dalton to arrange a public meeting to listen to her constituents’ concerns first-hand. By signing the petition an email requesting this public meeting will also be sent in your name to the MP’s office. UPDATE: The MP after 2 days and 2000 signatures has issued a statement. The statement is not completely accurate. The final decision legally rests with politicians – in this case, Ms Dalton’s boss, the Secretary of State for Health, Wes Streeting.

FURTHER UPDATE 7/7/2025: We have now closed the petition. It contains 2622 signatures. The original goal was 600. This reflects the strength of concern on this matter. Our West Lancashire will produce a briefing to help residents respond to the consultation on Accident and Emergency in due course.

For information the petition and letter read:

Dear Ms Dalton

We lost the Adult A&E to Southport and now there is a proposal to move Children’s A&E there too.

Do the people of West Lancashire not deserve any Accident and Emergency Services? Your constituents have strong views yet we have heard nothing from you. We request that you come here, arrange a public meeting, listen to our concerns and represent the views of the residents of West Lancashire.
