Gordon Johnson selected to stand in By Election
Our West Lancashire (OWL) have selected Gordon Johnson as their candidate in the upcoming by-election in Aughton and Holborn.
Gordon is the county councillor for the Ormskirk part of the ward having won a clear victory in May defeating the Labour predecessor. He is also a former Borough Councillor and Mayor.
Gordon has lived in West Lancashire for over 30 years and lives in Ormskirk with his wife Jackie and one of his grown-up children. He served 30 years as a police officer and since retirement has worked for Liverpool County Football Association and more recently for the NHS at the Ormskirk Hospital Site.
Gordon says, “I stood in the ward last year and came second. I’m standing again because I see a deterioration in services wherever I look: Bin collections; street sweeping; litter; grass cutting. We need to bring back Civic Pride and focus on the essentials reducing senior management and the PR budget.
I know the concerns that residents have about the vitality of the town centre; protection of our green belt; policing; student housing; localised flooding and the need to keep the council’s costs and council tax under control.
