Glenburn Fields Petition – Ask Lancashire County Council to promote a mixed development with Community Sports on Glenburn Field NOT wall to wall housing

We the undersigned call on the new administration at Lancashire County Council to promote a mixed development with Community Sports included on the site of the former Glenburn Sports College. As owners of the land, the County Council has a veto over what happens on the land. Community Sports was always a feature at the site when Glenburn Sports College operated and a community sports facility should feature in the future plans for the site. The current plans for around 425 houses are not acceptable and Lancashire County Council should tell West Lancashire Council so.

The public petition list here will only display your first name and first letter of your surname. No other details are published. If you prefer to be completely anonymous here, then please select the Hide Name from Public box in the petition below. Your full name and address will be included on the printed petition that OWL county councillors will present to the County Council in October.

This are should be made into a multi functional recreational area where children can play all sports safely, with safe play areas, we have enough houses, we do not have enough play space for children, we do not have enough open safe spaces for children to explore. The roads are already too congested, there is already no capacity for dental, medical, shops and infrastructure. Sep 28, 2025

1,140 Anonymous It's disgraceful that we old have high schools in the far corner of the biggest town in west Lancashire. Glenburn should never have closed. It's the councils responsibility to now make things right by the parents and children of the town and make a structured and usable community space Sep 28, 2025
