Horrific assault in Ormskirk Town Centre

Reacting to the horrific assault on Student Katie MacDonald outside the popular Ormskirk nightclub Alpine last week, Our West Lancashire’s Community Safety Spokesman, Gordon Johnson, a former police officer with 30 years’ service said, “Our thoughts are with the innocent victim Miss MacDonald at this time. Incidents of gratuitous violence of this kind are totally unacceptable. I saw many innocent people receive life changing scars and injuries over my years in the police force as a result of such attacks. WestLancashire Council licensing department and the local constabulary need to be more proactive in ensuring the safety of revellers who should be able to enjoy their evenings out in our Historic Market Town”

Mr Johnson who lives in Ormskirk himself concluded, “It is our understanding that glass should not be taken outside of licensed premises as a condition of their licence and our group leader Cllr Adrian Owens has written to the local police and licensing authorities to clarify the position.”
