Residents will be able to apply for trees again from the council after Our West Lancashire pressed the matter to a successful conclusion.
WLBC’s ‘Free Tree Scheme‘ provides young trees to local residents and community groups. There is low tree coverage in West Lancashire and trees play an important role in biodiversity and carbon capture.
The scheme was under threat as there was no money allocated for it when the budget was set in February. So, at Wednesday’s Council meeting, we pressed the matter and were pleased that the Portfolio Holder responded, confirming it would be funded this year.
Watch out for the press release around October to make your application.
